January-2010-Groove-Chart_344x540We thought it might be a little easier to understand the new groove rule changes if you got to see the exact differences between the old and the new. Here's an image from Golf.com that shows exactly what the new groove changes will look like.

The new wedge rule is designed to "limit the performance of grooves on shots from the rough to that of traditional V-groove designs." Tour players must adhere to the new rule for the 2010 season, but recreational players can play pre-2010 groove patterns until 2024.

Most of the recently released wedges do not conform with the new rules, so if your not a frequent wedge purchaser, be careful not to purchase something that will be illegal for future tournaments or events.
